Nessun dorma Lyrics

Nessun dorma Lyrics
Nessun dorma!
Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o Principe,
Nella tua fredda stanza guardi le stelle,
Che tremano d'amore e di speranza!

Ma il mio mistero chiuso in me,
Il nome mio nessun sapr!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dir,
Quando la luce splender!

Ed il mio bacio scioglier.
Il silenzio che ti fa mio!

[Choir:]
Il nome suo nessun sapr!
E noi dovrem ahim morir, morir!

Dilegua o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!
All' alba vincer!
Vincer! Vincer!

Amman Stock Exchange says its trading up by 65% in 2008

The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) has said that by the end of its yearly trading on Tuesday, its trading volume in the whole year reached 20.3 billion Jordanian dinars (about 28.7 billion U.S. dollars), daily newspaper The Jordan Times reported Wednesday.

The amount is 65 percent higher than the figure recorded at the end of 2007, an ASE statement was quoted as saying.

According to the statement, a total of 5.4 billion shares were traded and 3.8 million contracts were executed in 2008, which marks a 22 percent growth in traded shares and a 9 percent rise in the number of contracts.

The ASE price index, weighted by free float shares available for trading, closed on Tuesday at 2,758 points, 24.9 percent lower than the 3,675 points recorded at the end of 2007.

It closed at 6,243 points weighted by market value, 17 percent lower than the 7,519 points at the end of 2007.

Meanwhile, the ASE market capitalization stood at 25.4 billion dinars by the end of 2008, 13 percent lower than that at the end of 2007.

Non-Jordanian investments in 2008 grew by 303 million dinars compared to a 466-million-dinars increase in 2007.

The ASE said that the overall pretax profit of the companies listed on the first market went up by 37.8 percent during the January-September period, reaching 1,610 million dinars compared to 1,168 million dinars in the same period of 2007.

Despite the decline in the share prices this year, the ASE is considered one of the Arab bourse that were least impacted by the global financial crisis as the drop of share prices in most other Arab and international bourse was higher, said Jalil Tarif, the chief executive officer of the Amman Bourse.

According to the ASE, its trading of shares resume on Sunday, or Jan. 4, 2009.

The KSE 100-share index plunged 172.37 points, or 2.85 percent, and closed at 5865.01 points with a trading volume of 78.7 million shares.

The KSE index has shed more than 3,500 points from 9,446.81 points after its watchdog removed the trading floor on Dec. 15.

Israel pounds Gaza for 4th day, rejecting truce appeals

srael on Tuesday rejected worldwide appeals for a truce as its air strikes on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip went on for a fourth day.

The operation, dubbed Cast Lead, continued early Tuesday, with at least 10 people killed and 40 others wounded when Israeli war planes bombed a series of Gaza targets, according to Palestinian reports.

Smoke rises after an Israel air strike in Gaza December 30, 2008.

The death toll on the Palestinian side has so far risen to more than 380 killed and more than 1,600 others have been injured in the ongoing air strikes.

Despite Israel's devastating air assaults, Hamas militants continued to fight back, pelting Israeli territory with rockets and mortar shells.

The United Nations and many countries repeatedly urged Israel to stop the bloodshed but Israeli officials rejected any truce with Hamas, warning that the country was ready for "long weeks of action."

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would continue military action in Gaza "until all the goals are met."

The IDF operation would intensify "as much as needed to meet the goals we set for ourselves, to bring quiet to the South," Israel Army Radio quoted Barak as saying.

The operation also aims "to strike a severe blow to Hamas," he said, "in order to bring about an end to firing and other operations against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers."

Earlier Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the military operation is so far "the first phase in a series of steps approved by the cabinet."

Olmert made the remarks while meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres to brief him on the most recent developments in the operation.

Peres said Hamas is the party responsible for creating the current situation in the Gaza Strip.

"Israel is not fighting against the Palestinian population, only against the terror organization that has etched on its flag the continuation of violence and the undermining of regional stability," he said.

"There isn't a person in the world who understands what the goals of Hamas are and why they continue to fire rockets. The firing defies reason and logic and it doesn't stand a chance," Peres added.

With Israeli forces gearing up for a possible ground incursion into the Gaza Strip, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said the military has "made preparations for long weeks of action."

"We are ready for a prolonged conflict and for weeks of combat," Vilnai said in broadcast remarks.

After a meeting overnight Monday with IDF Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi and other leaders of the security establishment, Olmert stressed that Israel would strike Hamas with an "iron fist" but would treat Gaza civilians with "kid gloves" in its humanitarian effort, local daily Jerusalem Post reported.

During the meeting, security officials said the IDF had given telephone warnings to about 90,000 people living near Hamas facilities targeted by the Israeli air force. They stressed that the sites were bombed only after civilians had left their homes.

Israel let about 100 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies from Jordan, Turkey and international aid groups into Gaza via the Kerem Shalom border crossing, said the report, adding that five new ambulances donated by Turkey were allowed into the Hamas-ruled enclave.

Israel launched massive air raids against the Gaza Strip on Saturday, while Hamas shelled Israeli territory after a six-month ceasefire that ended Dec. 19.

Eva Longoria says she is gardener in marriage

Eva Longoria says she is the "gardener" in her marriage.

The "Desperate Housewives" actress, who is married to basketball star Tony Parker, describes her husband as a "flower" she looks after.

She explained: "I'm the gardener, I definitely nurture. Tony is the flower. But there are times when Tony takes care of me in an emotional sense. But I love to take care of him. I'm really a very 50s housewife."

"I love having dinner ready and making sure his clothes are ironed and that he's packed and ready when he goes on road trips."

Eva, who wed Tony in a romantic ceremony in France in 2007, admits she works hard to ensure her marriage is successful but the couple sometimes struggle to balance their hectic work schedules with spending time together.

The 33-year-old beauty added to America's Glamour magazine: "Marriage is a commitment, so you always have to work at it. For us, just juggling schedules is the biggest obstacle we have, and we don't even really have a problem with that either."

"I take it day by day. Tony and I would love to be together forever. But the only way you get to forever is one day at a time."

Actors Bacon, Sedgwick among Madoff victims

Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick are among the many victims of the massive Ponzi scheme run by the disgraced New York money manager Madoff.

Bacon's publicist, Allen Eichhorn, confirmed Tuesday that the couple had investments with Madoff. He wouldn't say how much money Bacon, whose most recent film is "Frost/Nixon," and "The Closer" star Sedgwick might have lost.

Madoff told federal investigators that his investment business was "a lie" that lost as much as 50 billion U.S.dollars.

Other Hollywood victims have included a charity linked to director Steven Spielberg and his DreamWorks partner Jeffrey Katzenberg, and screenwriter Eric Roth, whose credits include "Forrest Gump" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."

FDA approves first eyelash-lengthening drug

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the first drug that will help with producing longer eyelashes, according to media reports Monday.

Latisse, produced by the company of Allergan, is supposed to treat those who have hypotrichosis, a condition in which a person does not have enough eyelashes. It will be available by prescription starting in the first quarter of 2009.

The active ingredient in the once-daily prescription treatment is bimatroprost, the same ingredient that is in Allergan's glaucoma treatment Lumigan.

Allergan states that "Latisse users can expect to experience longer, fuller, and darker eyelashes in as little as eight weeks, with full results in 16 weeks." If Latisse is stopped, eyelashes will gradually return to their previous appearance as new eyelashes grow in.

The company also stated, "Latisse is the first and only science-based treatment approved by the FDA to enhance eyelash prominence as measured by increases in length, thickness and darkness of eyelashes."

Allergan noted that Latisse may cause darkening of the eyelid skin, which may be reversible, and it "may also cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye, which is likely to be permanent."

The drug is the first prescription product for lengthening eyelashes, making sales forecasting a little difficult although Allergan said it estimates global peak sales could top 500 million U.S. dollars a year.

Bird flu outbreak occurs in northern Vietnam

A bird flu outbreak has been confirmed in Thai Nguyen, a northern province of Vietnam, the local newspaper Vietnam Agriculture reported Monday, citing a statement from the provincial People's Committee.

The outbreak was spotted at the Luong Son commune, causing death of over 100 poultry of 45 days old.

Specimens from the dead poultry have recently been tested positive to bird flu virus strain H5N1, according to the local authority.

Local authority has established a zone covering the outbreak to prevent the virus from spreading.

This is the second bird flu outbreak found in the province so far in 2008. The first outbreak was reported on January this year with the culling of over 4,000 fowls.

Bird flu outbreaks in Vietnam, starting in December 2003, have killed and led to the forced culling of dozens of millions of fowls in the country.

WHO: Cholera outbreak kills over 1,500 in Zimbabwe

The cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe has so far killed more than 1,500 people, and the fatality rates are rising, a United Nations agency says.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says some 1,518 people have died of the disease and 26,497 cases have been recorded since August when the outbreak occurred.

The WHO says on its website that the outbreak is still not under control, and Zimbabwe's neighboring countries are encouraged to reinforce their active surveillance and preparedness systems.

The agency says the epidemiological week ending Dec. 20 saw more than 5,000 new cases, an increase in the number of weekly cases relative to previous weeks and a rise in deaths outside treatment and health centers.

The percentage of cholera patients dying from the disease has risen to 5.7 percent from 4 percent at the beginning of the month, the WHO says.

Normally, only 1 percent of patients die in large cholera outbreaks, it says.

The Zimbabwean Ministry of Health said on Dec. 25 that new infections were still occurring in all parts of the country.

Large plane have collision detection radars. Even so they get directions from air traffic to avoid collision. Also planes follow "air corridors" (sort of like sky hwys) that most planes going the same way all use. So planes going from NYC to L.A. all follow the general corridor.

Small planes do it by visual methods.

Luhrmann gives Kidman, Jackman a happy ending in "Australia"

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman's hunky new love (Hugh Jackman) doesn't lose his life in the final scene of "Australia" after director Baz Luhrmann bowed to pressure from Twentieth Century Fox to give the big-budget movie a happy ending, news reports said Sunday.

Luhrmann, who is racing against time to ready the epic for worldwide release on Nov. 26, had initially killed off Jackman's character, identified only as the Drover, just before the credits rolled.

But the money men at Fox insisted on changes that transform "an action-filled tragedy" into more of a weepy romance, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

"Australia" is Luhrmann's first feature since 2001's Moulin Rouge! and Fox wants to be assured of recouping its 100-million-U.S.-dollar outlay.

The World War II romantic drama, only the Australian director's fourth feature in 16 years, has been talked up by Luhrmann as "high comedy, high tragedy, tears, laughter, costumes" which has "everything big - big actors, big landscape."

The screenplay is mostly Luhrmann's, helped along by Gould's Book of Fish author Richard Flanagan, and the paper reported he was persuaded to junk his original denouement for a happier one after focus-group testing threw up general disappointment.

In a film that initially ran for over three hours, Kidman plays English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley, who arrives in Australia to take over a zillion-hectare cattle property. She ends up in the arms of Jackman, who plays the rough and ready cowboy who saves the day.

"It's the first time anyone has tried to make a blockbuster outside of America and that's what he's doing," Flannagan said of his paymaster's work. "It will be an idea of Australia, a story about Australia, taking Australia to the world."

Some who have seen early takes of the film have raved about the breadth and scale of the undertaking, the superb cinematography and the loving treatment of the Outback.

The Sun Herald newspaper conducted a straw poll, with most respondents being pessimistic about box-office prospects.

A reader called Claire said the backdrop of a world economic crisis would help gate receipts because "when times get tough, the tough buy popcorn and try to forget reality."

It is no season of joy for sacked NBA coaches

Every year, at least a handful of NBA coaches wind up unemployed through some combination of bad play and bad luck. This season, there has to be another reason.

Inflated expectations? The recession? A revolt against the coaching profession? Not even halfway through the season, NBA coaches have as weak a hold as ever on their jobs.

"I said to somebody, I think there's a coup out there," Houston Rockets coach Rick Adelman said.

Adelman was smiling, but this is no laughing matter for his profession. Six coaches were fired before Christmas, 20 percent of the league's total and the most at this point in a season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Nine teams changed coaches in the 2004-05 season, a record that could be in jeopardy.

"I just wish I could be in the meeting with the owner when that GM who is firing them is guaranteeing, 'We're going to be better by making this change,' because I don't see it ever getting that much better," Denver Nuggets coach George Karl said.

Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl (L) talks with Carmelo Anthony during a time out of their 98-87 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in game 2 of the NBA Western Conference first round playoff series in Los Angeles, April 24, 2006.

The Oklahoma City Thunder got the firings rolling by dismissing P.J. Carlesimo after a 1-12 start, then posted the same record in Scott Brooks' first 13 games. The injury-plagued Washington Wizards (Eddie Jordan) and Sacramento Kings (Reggie Theus) also made changes. So did the Toronto Raptors (Sam Mitchell), Philadelphia 76ers (Maurice Cheeks) and Minnesota Timberwolves (Randy Wittman), teams that expected to be much better than they are.

Coaches always say they're hired expecting to be fired - but not this much, this soon. "It's pretty consistent the way they're going about it. Once you start going in the other direction, there's no miracle trades," Adelman said. "The classic line I've seen a couple of times is, 'Everybody's accountable.' I've seen general managers say that, or personnel people. But everybody's still there but the coach.

"So not everybody is accountable. Even though that's a nice statement to say, I don't think that's the truth. When you're a coach in this league, you know that's something that can happen at any time," he said.

Adelman notes that young coaches often get started with bad jobs. Theus, for example, saw Mike Bibby and Ron Artest traded during his one-plus season by a Kings team that is on the decline after Adelman had it near the top earlier this decade.

Karl said some of the problem is the false hopes teams have after summer signings. The 76ers contracted Elton Brand and the Raptors acquired Jermaine O'Neal, and both teams were widely picked to finish in the top half of the Eastern Conference. However, neither club gave its coach much time to get the new changes working - even though Philadelphia started slowly last season before Cheeks led a second-half surge into the playoffs.

"Most of those teams were expecting to be substantially better than they're performing," Karl said. But predictions by writers and team officials are often made before anyone sees how a team jells - or doesn't. "Everybody thinks they're going to win a championship in the summer," he said.

Zhang Yimou, Jackie Chan: China's most loved celebrities

China's most loved celebrities were announced on Saturday, Dec. 27 with director Zhang Yimou and veteran Kung Fu star Jackie Chan sharing the top prize. It was the first time two people shared the honor.

Veteran folk singer Song Zuying was adjudged the most popular female performer, having overtaken last year's winner singer Peng Liyuan.

Stars like Andy Lau, Jay Chou, Jet Li, Li Youbin as well as late director Xie Jin were in the top 20. Mainland pop singer Zang Tianshuo, who was arrested for allegedly helming a criminal gang this November, and Hong Kong entertainer Edison Chen, who was involved in a nude photo scandal, finished in second last and last place respectively in the list of about 700 celebrities.

Veteran actress Deng Jie fell to the third-last position in the ranking. Her public standing was greatly jeopardized by her connection to the tainted milk scandal in the past few months.

The survey also ranked CCTV presenter Bai Yansong as number one on the hosts' list. Entertainment program hostess Li Xiang came in last.

Budding actor Wang Baoqiang, who rose to fame through the hit TV sitcom, Soldiers Sortie, was honored as the best new actor.

The survey, conducted by the Lian Xin Power Survey company, focused on five categories: professional ethic, performance, public welfare activity, social influence and commercial value.

The selection was carried out in a fair, scientific way. While the performance of celebrities was what was mainly taken into consideration, negative reports took its toll on some big names.

The activity is believed to encourage Chinese celebrities to fulfill their social responsibilities.

Israeli army says too early to declare victory of Gaza operation

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday it was too early to declare the victory of Israel's operation in the Gaza Strip, local news service Ynet reported on its website.

The remarks came a day after Israel's "Cast Lead" operation, which significantly damaged Hamas' command and control capabilities, said the report.

IDF carried out massive air strikes against dozens of targets in Gaza early Saturday, reportedly killing more than 200 people and injuring another several hundred in response to Hamas ongoing cross-border rockets attacks.

Meanwhile, Israeli planes continued to attack Hamas targets in Gaza on Sunday. According to Hamas reports, a police station in southern Gaza was damaged and an arms cache was also bombarded.

However, IDF sources said that so far, Hamas' response to Israel 's aerial attack of strategic targets in Gaza was relatively restrained, despite the rocket fire of short-range and Grad rockets, adding that there was a possibility for a massive response from Hamas.

It was far too early to assume Hamas has been subdued, said the IDF, noting that the militant group still has the capacity to shoot heavy barrages of rockets, as well as to attempt terror attacks along the fence between Gaza and Israel, and in Israel itself.

On Sunday morning, Hamas operatives launched three Grad rockets towards Israel, which landed near Ashdod, said Ynet, adding that the hit marked the northernmost range of Gazan rockets seen to date-- more than 40 km.

Shortly after Saturday's airstrikes, an Israeli was killed and several others wounded when a rocket from Gaza hit a house in southern Israel. Amid worries that Gazan militants would carry out a massive rocket barrage in retaliation, Israeli officials have put communities near the border on alert and urged local residents to stay in shelter rooms.

Blood and gunpowder odor expanded all-over Gaza

Mohamed al-Ashi, 28, was in a fright as he stood at Gaza City's Shifa Hospital's emergency room seeing several relatives and police officials carrying the body of his brother, who died in the first Israeli airstrike carried out on Saturday at the main Hamas police base.
"I pray to Allah (God) to give us calmness and strength, may God bless his spirit. We lost the best man in the family," said Mohamed, as he looked sad but kept his tears from flowing, while others shouted Allah Akbar (God is great).
Bodies of Hamas policemen lie on the ground of their destroyed police compound following an Israeli air strike in Gaza December 27, 2008. Israeli air strikes in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Saturday killed at least 195 Palestinians, health officials in Gaza said.
Faris el-Ashi, a 33-year-old eruptive expert and an officer in Hamas police forces, explosives division was fatally wounded on Saturday and died of his wounds on Sunday morning at the medical centre.
El-Ashi, is one of the hundreds who were either killed or injured in the ongoing intensive Israeli warplanes airstrikes on targets belong to Hamas movement offices and its security forces.
Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency services in the Palestinian Health Ministry told reporters that the death toll since Saturday morning hit to 282 people killed and over 900 wounded, 120 of them are in serious conditions.
"All Gaza Strip Hospitals are in a status of emergency receiving bodies and casualties of people were hit by the Israeli air missiles. Gaza hospitals suffer from a severe lack of medical aids and equipment," said Hassanein.
Gaza Strip streets looked empty of traffic and people, where all stores and shops as well as schools and universities closed down, as Hamas government announced a three-day grief and mourning.
Salem Abu Akkar, a Palestinian academic from Gaza said he believes that "Hamas lost the battle from the very first strike, where most of those killed were all Hamas police men, and the Israeli airstrike had threatened its security leaders."
"Militarily speaking, Hamas has lost on the ground, but publicly and politically; I believe that Hamas has won the battle and earned more political support among the Palestinians and amongthe Arabs," Akkar added.
He also said that "I believe that Israel would lose on both sides, whether it continues its operation to the end or stop it due to Arab and international pressures, because on both cases rocket attacks on Israel won't stop and the results of both cases will be a renewal of the truce with Israel. Therefore, a renewal of the truce with Israel means that Hamas would again rebuild its military abilities and continue armament to prepare for another battle with Israel."

The Israeli army had suddenly surprised Hamas movement in Gaza and has suddenly began unprecedented intensive airstrikes, where explosions were heard every five minutes all-over the Gaza Strip.

Early on Sunday, the Israeli army air forces continued on the second day of airstrikes on different targets belong to Islamic Hamas movement.

Hamas movement said in a statement that the last airstrike was carried out on the building of Hamas cabinet headed by deposed prime minister Ismail Haneya, causing severe destruction to the building and several casualties.

The movement said in the statement that the Israeli army warplanes, F16 and Apache helicopters carried out around 25 airstrikes on different targets and buildings all-over the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli airstrikes overnight and early Sunday morning had also targeted a mosque in Gaza, al-Aqsa Television station of Hamas, metal workshops suspected for manufacturing homemade rockets and police stations, according to Hamas.

Israeli soldiers take position during scuffles with Palestinian stone-throwers at Qalandiya checkpoint near the West Bank city of Ramallah December 27, 2008. Israeli warplanes and helicopters pounded the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing at least 205 people in the bloodiest one-day death toll in 60 years of conflict with the Palestinians. Palestinians staged protest rallies in Arab East Jerusalem, and in the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Hebron, leading to scuffles with Israeli forces.

Israel started it's military operation called "the Poured Lead"on the Gaza Strip on Saturday. The operation was started with unprecedented intensive airstrikes on Hamas police installations.

Among the senior people were killed Saturday was General Tawfiq Tirawai and the governor of central Gaza Abu Ahmed Aashour and Colonel Ismail al-Ja'bari, chief of internal security in Hamas police.

Mohammed Abu Hmeid, a Hamas policeman, 36, said "It is hard to loose friends and colleagues you experienced different situations with them, from fighting Israel to work under the legitimate government."

He added that "Our duty is more important (he controls the traffic near the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza). I still on my work though I have to relieve the families of my friends because we are hard to break."

He accused Israel, the Palestinian National Authority and some Arab countries that "This is a plot against the Islamic rule and the democrat government of Palestine. The odor of blood and gunpowder is all-over the area."

Hassan Abu Tuha, 22, a resident who was watching the movement of ambulances in and out of the main hospital in Gaza, said "A massacre or holocaust is not enough to describe the situation. I have never seen this before."

He added "I'm talking to you now and I'm afraid of a rocket that may land here or around my house or kill any of my beloved. I did not sleep last night because the strikes did not stop. I kept holding my breath. May Allah show us a bloody day in the Jews and their aligned Arabs."

Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defence Minister Ehud Barak (R) and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni (L) hold a news conference in Tel Aviv December 27, 2008. Olmert said on Saturday Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip could "take time", and braced residents of the country's south for sustained rocket fire from the Hamas-ruled enclave.

Lakers end Celtics' 19-game winning streak

THE Los Angeles Lakers displayed the toughness they lacked last season to beat the Boston Celtics 92-83 and end the NBA champions' franchise-best 19-game winning streak yesterday.

Pau Gasol scored seven successive points in the final three minutes and Kobe Bryant had a game-high 27 points as the Lakers (24-5) earned a measure of revenge against the Celtics.

It was the first meeting between the two since the Celtics beat the Lakers 4-2 in the best-of-seven NBA finals in June.

"It was fun just because of the challenge of stopping the streak," Bryant told reporters. "We made the right plays. They were determined not to let me beat them, and Pau (Gasol) did a great job stepping up and hitting big shots."

Kevin Garnett recorded 22 points and nine rebounds and Paul Pierce had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics, who still lead the Eastern Conference with a 27-3 record.

Trailing for most of the game, Boston held an 81-79 lead with four minutes remaining before the Lakers answered with clutch plays.

Gasol made a 15-foot jump shot to give Los Angeles an 83-81 lead with 2:47 remaining, and followed with two driving shots both assisted by Bryant.

The Spanish power forward then blocked a three-point attempt by Boston's Ray Allen in the final minute.

"In the first half I thought he was thinking too much," Bryant said of Gasol's play.

"I had to remind him at halftime that you're one of the best players in the world, and to go out there and play like it."

Lindsay Lohan spending X'mas with Samantha

On Tuesday Lindsay Lohan revealed on her MySpace blog, "My father just let my family and I know, amongst others that he had another child after my little sister Aliana, or maybe he had it before Aliana??"

"He cheated on my mother and that really sucks … MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!," the actress, 22, wrote a blog post titled "Random Thoughts." .

But in a rebuttal e-mail sent to People Magazine, the star's controversy-plagued father Michael Lohan is refuting the claim. In fact, he thinks the entry was penned not by his daughter, but by her DJ gal pal Samantha Ronson.

Reports that Michael Lohan, father of Michael, Lindsay, Ali and Cody Lohan, might have had an illegitimate child surfaced in June when a woman named Kristi Horn claimed that she'd had a daughter by him 13 years ago.

"Why would someone without taking a test put something out there like this? What if it's negative?" Lohan said in June in interviews with the Associated Press.

On her MySpace blog, Lohan sends her love to all of her family members except her father. She also reveals that she'll be spending the holidays with her girlfriend in LA.

"I love my Mom, Aliana, Cody, Michael, and my Nana Sullivan!! I will be missing them this Christmas as it is the first one I am spending away from home. I am spending it with Samantha in Los Angeles."

Should I Stay Or Should I Go Lyrics

Should I Stay Or Should I Go Lyrics

Darling you gotta let me know
Should I stay or should I go
If you say that you are mine
I'll be here 'til the end of time
So you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go

Always tease tease tease
You're happy when I'm on my knees
One day is fine, next is black
So if you want me off your back
Well come on and let me know
Should I stay or should I go

Should I stay or should I go now
Should I stay or should I go now
If I go there will be trouble
An if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know
Should I stay or should I go

This indecision's bugging me
If you don't want me, set me free
Exactly who'm I'm supposed to be
Don't know wich clothes even fit me
Come on and let me know
Should I cool it or should I blow

Should I stay or should I go now
Should I stay or should I go now
If I go there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double
So you gotta let me know
Should I stay or should I go

Soul Man lyrics

Soul Man lyrics

Hey hey we`re from New York City
Down town where the life is kill
Nobody`s gonna pick you up
`Cos they`re kicking you down ta hell
We live in a perma-crisis
Hope the landlord leaves ya alone
Don`t bother goin` out anymore
`Cos I don`t like anyone
Where it comes from I don`t know
Just living here ya get a rot-rotten soul
Yeah it`s rock `n` roll
All the little kiddies are satiesfied
Livin` in the toilets, where they reside
Sittin` on the corner just gettin` reaction
Cuttin` all the deals just to get in the action
Where it comes from, I don`t know
Just livin` here you get a rot-rotten soul
I got a rotten soul
Gimme, gimme, gimme
New York City punk
I got a rotten soul
Pumped up out on the skids breakin` laws
That hold ya down
(Yeah whatcha gonna do)
No-one`s gonna pick you up
And save you from this town
(Yeah whatcha gonna do)
Twenty four hours around the clock
That`s the way you gotta play
(Yeah whatcha gonna do)
Never gonna get a break and I hope it stays the way
(Yeah whatcha gonna do)
Where it comes from I don`t know
Just living here you get a rot-rotten soul
I got a rotten soul
Yeah - rotten
I got a rotten soul
I`m sick of all the little babies
Just whining about their stupid lives
And all the cosmic millionaires
Tellin` us we`re gonna die
Hey Geffen, look at me
I`m rockin` every single night
Criticized and crucify me `cause
I`m ready for another fight
Where it comes from I don`t know
Just livin` here you get a rot-rotten soul
I got a rotten soul

Green Acres Lyrics

Green Acres Lyrics
Green acres is the place to be
Farm living is the life for me
Land spreading out,
so far and wide
Keep Manhattan,
just give me that countryside.

New York
is where I'd rather stay
I get allergic smelling hay
I just adore a penthouse view
Darling, I love you,
but give me Park Avenue.

The Chores

The Stores

Fresh air

Times Square

You are my wife. Goodbye city life.

Green Acres, we are there!

UN chief backs Pakistan's efforts to seek truth, justice on Bhutto assassination

A supporter holds a candle next to a picture of slain former prime minister Benazir Bhutto during a prayer ceremony ahead of her first death anniversary in Karachi December 26, 2008. Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007 after a public rally in Rawalpindi.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday said that he supports Pakistan's efforts to search for truth and justice on the December 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

A statement issued here by Ban's spokesperson said, "One year ago, assassins took the life of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan. On this painful anniversary, the secretary-general stands in solidarity with the government and the people of Pakistan and assures them of his commitment to contribute to their search for truth and justice."

Bhutto 54, was killed on Dec. 27, 2007 in a gun and suicide attack at an election rally in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi. Her killing shocked the world.

In response to the request that the secretary-general establish an independent Commission of Inquiry into the circumstance of the killing, "the United Nations Secretariat has been in consultations with the government of Pakistan to determine the nature of the commission, the scope of its mandate and the modalities for its establishment," the statement said.

"The Secretariat has also been in consultations on this matter with members of the United Nations Security Council," the statement said.

"The secretary-general is hopeful that, with the progression of the discussions, the commission could be established in the near future," the statement added.

Illinois lawmaker calls for solution for Obama's senator seat

An Illinois state legislator plans to institute legislation that will offer a solution for Illinois' empty Senate seat left by President-elect Barack Obama, a local radio reported Friday.
Chicago Democrat Will Burns expressed he would put forth a bill in January that calls for the Illinois House and Senate to confirm the gubernatorial appointee, the Chicago Public radio stated.
His proposal calls for two public hearings on the governor's appointee. That person would then have to be approved by both chambers in Springfield. If passed, the new law would be limited to the Obama vacancy.
Governor Rod Blagojevich is supposed to appoint Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat. However, Blagojevich is under a federal cloud of alleged corruption. Furthermore, so the question remains on how this position will be filled.

Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois arrives to address questions about charges brought against him of conspiracy and bribery, including allegations he was seeking to benefit financially from his appointment of a successor to the U.S. Senate seat that was vacated by President-elect Barack Obama during a news conference in Chicago, December 19, 2008

According to a report by Associated Press from Springfield, the capital city of Illinois State, Blagojevich is supposed to be in federal court on Jan. 14 in Chicago. He also has the constitutional duty that day to preside over the state Senate in Springfield as new members are sworn in.

Although Blagojevich has been accused of corruption, he still, under the state law, has the power to appoint a person to fill the vacancy of the Senator seat left by Obama.

Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois addresses questions about charges brought against him of conspiracy and bribery, including allegations he was seeking to benefit financially from his appointment of a successor to the U.S. Senate seat that was vacated by President-elect Barack Obama during a news conference in Chicago, December 19, 2008.

Explaining the proposal, Burns said, balancing the fiscal problems the state is facing with the need for more disclosure and a better process, this hybrid proposal provides the public with more transparency.

Some state lawmakers have called for holding a special election as a solution for the issue, but Burns said a special election would be too costly.

Chinese Navy sets sail for anti-piracy mission off Somalia

The Chinese naval fleet set sail at 1:50 p.m. on Friday for Somalia.
·The fleet will cruise for about 10 days to arrive in the Gulf of Aden.
·The fleet will carry 800 crew members and is equipped with missiles, cannons.

The Chinese naval task force set sail at 1:50 p.m. Friday from a port
here in the southernmost island province of Hainan for Somalia. The
ships will take part in an escort mission against piracy.

The warships of the People's Liberation Army Navy, decorated with
colored ribbons and flowers, were cast off at the military port by
crew members in white naval uniforms who saluted the crowds seeing
them off.

Two destroyers, DDG-169 Wuhan and DDG-171 Haikou, and the supply
ship Weishanhu from the South China Sea Fleet will cruise for about 10
days before arriving in the Gulf of Aden, joining a multinational
patrol in one of the world's busiest sea lanes where piracy endangers
international shipping.

The task force carries about 800 crew members, including 70
soldiers from the Navy's special force. It's equipped with missiles,
cannons and light weapons.

"The expedition will show China's active attitude in maintaining
the world's peace and safety," Adm. Wu Shengli, commander of the Navy,
told Xinhua at a send-off ceremony before the flotilla departed.

"It could also embody the Navy's resolution and capacity to
accomplish diversified military missions to deal with multiple threats
to national security," the admiral said.

He said the expedition is the first occasion that China has
deployed warships far from its coastline to protect the nation's
strategic interests and also the first time it has implemented an
international humanitarian mission overseas, which will play an
important role in peacekeeping in the region.

"All crew members have full confidence in their ability to fulfill
the escort mission," the task force's commander, Rear-Adm.Du Jingchen,
said at the ceremony.

The task force has many experienced crew members who have
successfully carried out other overseas missions. The current mission
might, however, be a long one that poses unforeseen challenges, said
Du, who is chief of staff of the Navy's South China Sea Fleet.

The task force will protect Chinese vessels and crews, including those
from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, that seek protection when passing
through the area, as well as foreign ships on request.

The first phase of the mission will last for three months and the
Navy will send fresh ships to relieve the task force at an appropriate
time, depending on the situation and the UN Security Council decision.

It will also help ships carrying humanitarian relief for
international organizations such as the UN World Food Program. The
task force will not charge escort service or protection fees to ships,
whether foreign or domestic.

The task force will be ready to receive protection appeals on Jan. 6.

"We are supposed to encounter conflicts where we might have to
fire on pirates in those waters, but our primary target is not
striking them but dispersing them," said Du, speaking on board the
destroyer Wuhan.

He said the task force has not been given specific instructions
about the Chinese fishing vessel Tian Yu 8, which is still held by
pirates, since the government has not given up negotiating with the
pirates.

The destroyer Wuhan will serve as the flagship during the
three-month mission, according to 40-year-old captain Long Juan, who
added that the crew had conducted repeated drills especially targeted
at fighting piracy.

For Wuhan's companion destroyer, Haikou, the voyage is a public
debut. It was commissioned in 2005. However, Capt. Zhou Fuquan said
all crew members were well-trained and confident in the mission.

The supply ship Weishanhu, China's biggest domestically made
re-supply ship, will provide logistic and medical support during the
mission.

"The ship can supply the fleet with green vegetables and fresh
fruits for months," Capt. Xi Feijun said, adding that medical teams
onboard can perform all surgery, aside from brain procedures.

The three captains agreed that the unfamiliar water and weather
off the Somalia coast and the three-month mission might pose
challenges, but they said all crew were confident and honored to carry
out the mission.

The Ministry of Defense officially announced the deployment on
Tuesday, saying that China would observe UN resolutions and
international laws in fulfilling its obligations.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said that 1,265 Chinese
commercial vessels had passed through the gulf so far this year and
seven had been attacked. The Tian Yu 8 and 18 crew members were still
being held by pirates.

The International Maritime Bureau, based in London, said more than
109 ships had been attacked in the gulf this year and 14 ships are
currently held for ransom, including Saudi supertanker the Sirius Star
and the Faina, a Ukrainian cargo vessel carrying 32 tanks.

The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions calling on
all countries and regions to take part in patrolling the gulf and
waters off Somalia since June. The latest one authorized countries to
"undertake all necessary measures in Somalia, including in its
airspace" to stop the pirates.

Hallelujah Lyrics

Well I heard there was a secret cord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music do you?
Well it goes like this
The fourth the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu-u-u-jah

Well Your faith was strong
But you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
And she tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu-u-u-jah

Yeah well baby
I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
You know, I used to live alone
Before I knew you
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not some victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelu- hallelu-u-jah

Well there was a time
When you let me know
What's really going on below
Yeah but now you never show that to me do you?
Remember when I moved in you
And the holy was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
If at all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who out drew you
It's not some cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah

Hallelu- hallelu- hallelujah

Hallelujah...

Silent Night Lyrics

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia
Christ the savior is born
Christ the savios is born

Spoken
Peace, joy, love
Was sent to all of us from Heaven up above
To every man, woman, boy, and girl
To all God's children, all of our world
It's our hope that your dreams may come true
Like ours have, thanks to all of you
Now we have just one more wish
That you all remember this
The true meaning of Christmas

Christ the savior is born
Christ the savios is born

Jennifer Hudson will construct her first public appearance since the tragic expirations of her mother, brother and son of brother at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala in February.
The 27-year-old star - who has been in concealment since mom Darnell Donerson Hudson, sibling Jason Hudson and seven-year-old nephew Julian King were shot in October - will perform a choice of Neil Diamond songs at the event, to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Other stars to grace the stage at the concert on Feb. 6 include Coldplay, the Foo Fighters, Josh Groban and Tim McGraw ahead of the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles' Staples Center on February 8.
Jennifer is said to be ready to get her life and career back on track following the tragedy. Earlier this month, she was due to shoot a rescheduled video for her new single "If It Isn't Love" - which was originally set to happen around the time of the deaths.
However, Jennifer pulled out of filming the promo amid reports she was still too emotionally distressed about the murders. Jennifer's brother-in-law William Balfour - the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister Julia - has been charged with three counts of first-degree homicide and one count of home attack.
Jennifer Hudson accepts the prize for "Best New Artist" at the 2007 BET Awards in Los Angeles, California June 26, 2007.

Hope that helps.
